How To Not Look Tacky In Animal Print
That is the question
This fall we’re seeing animal print getting back in the game. It’s all about the wild life, and I’ve especially fallen in love with the snake print. It might be that I already lived out my zebra-print-shoe-dreams two years ago, and last year I went crazy for a leopard print bomber jacket, not to talk about a pair of leopard print flats.
So now, let’s talk a bit about how to style these bad boys.
Style your animal print down
You can’t have it all. Rule numbero uno, style your animal print down! The more you dress it up, the more you might end up looking like a character from Pretty Woman, and that’s not what we want. So style your leopard print dress with a pair of cool white sneakers and a chunky knit, or if you’re going out switch out the sneakers and knit with a pair of masculine loafers and a sharp blazer. Wear casual jeans with your button down snake print shirt. Create a more business-y look by styling your animal print shoes with jeans, a basic white tee, and a blazer.
No red lips with leopard print
Or just no red lips with animal print. And no ghetto-gold (as Carrie Bradshaw would say) either. That means no big hoops, no bling, no name-tag necklaces. Go for a natural make-up with a nude lip, and put on some delicate jewelry.
No Mix & match
Unless you’re seriously slaying it (in case I should be reading you’re blog) do not(!!) mix animal print. You don’t want to end up looking like Tarzan. If you absolutely positively have to do it, try to style it somewhat like Emili Sindlev.
Otherwise, just have fun with all those prints. Fall is loud this year, and I like it!
