Out Of Office: Summer Time In The City
Beach time in Greenwich, Connecticut
The summer in New York City is getting proper hot, hot, hot. As we speak the temperature has hit 33 celcius/92 fahrenheit, and I'm sat in the shadow of the big tree in our courtyard sipping a home made iced tea with plenty of ice cubes. I'm pretty sure life is at its max right now, although yesterday's activity might have topped it: beach time!
As the temperature was going towards the end of 'way too hot to handle' yesterday, Edward and I packed the beach bag with sunscreen, towels, magazines, and swimsuits, and our Iglo cooler with plenty of water bottles, and headed to the beach. We've been loving going to a private beach in Greenwich, Connecticut called Greenwich Point Park, which I also wrote more about in my New York City Beach Guide. It's a 40-ish minute drive from Upper Manhattan and it's close to a cute little town called Old Greenwich - perfect place to grab a coffee, which we all know I did.
Greenwich Point Park is a smaller, calmer beach with that nice beige sand and perfect, clear blue/green water. It's pretty much a perfect getaway for the day when you live in the city and simply can't breathe in the heat.
I've been loving wearing one-pieces rather than bikinis lately. It might be the fact that I feel older and less fit than during my teen years, or it might be the fact that the highstreet stores are booming with chic one-pieces lately. Maybe a combination. This one has a very low v-front and deep back, so I don't feel like I'm getting no tan, and then it's in this lovely peach/tan color that I just cannot get enough of these days.
