My Winter Beauty Tips
‘tis the season for extra relaxation & self-care
Winter is fast approaching, and I thought what’s better than a beauty post with some of my favorite products, routines, and tips for this season.
My beautry routine
First of all, I want to stress how much I’ve enjoying my daily skincare routine after I started taking it seriously. It wasn’t long ago when I was just washing and putting on cream and calling it a night. But I wanted to add some more steps to my routine both because I’ve been noticing more blackheads in my skin recently (sorry if that TMI), but also because I want to try getting rid of the scars I have after battling acne for 10 years. So now I cleanse my skin in the morning using a little Korean beauty device that I’ll tell more about later, and then I massage my day cream into my skin. I also make sure to moisturize my body before the day starts. At night my routine is a bit longer to prep my skin for the night of rejuvenation. I start by cleansing and follow with Miscellar Water on a cotton pad for a double cleanse effect. Then I use a Argan & Vitamin E oil which I massage into my skin before I put on my night cream, lip balm, eye cream, and moisturize my body. It’s my little spa treatment every single night and I literally look forward to it every day.
My favorite products
I thought a lot about how I can do this the best and most digestible way for you all. And as I’ve just walked you through my skin care routine step-by-step, I’ve decided to list the products I currently use as well as link to them, so you can find them easily.
I shift between iS Clinical Cleansing Complex and trying other cleansers. Right now I’m out of iS Clinical, so I’m trying out Burt’s Bees Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream, which I’m really liking. It’s a little more harsh than the one from iS Clinical, and I would prefer that one, but as I just like trying something new.
Day & night cream
I’ve been using Shiseido’s WrinkleResist24 series in both Day Cream and Night Cream. They are definitely on the pricier side, but I think it’s worth the investment if you like the feeling of a high-end cream on your skin. They are butter soft and just smell so good! I love that the Day Cream has SPF 18, so I always have some protection on my skin (although I do also wear extra SPF occasionally). They are for normal to dry skin, so if that’s your skintype I would recommend checking them out.
I recently bought Pearlessence’s Argan & Vitamin E Oil, which I just adore. It makes me look forward to my evening skincare routine every single day. It’s such so butter soft and smells amazing.
In this category I have so many different product to recommend, but there are too products that I love the most. Shiseido’s Benefiance WrinkleResist24 eye cream is amazing just as the day and night cream. It’s a bit pricey, but I think it’s so worth the price to get that luxurious feeling. For a more affordable one, I’ve also been loving Ole Henriksen’s Banana Bright Eye Crème which is really soft and nurturing.
I love a good face mask, and there are so many to recommend, but the ones I’m using at the moment are Aesops Parsley Seed Cleansing Mask, which just really works magic. You can feel it working on your skin, and I love that. Then I just finished a tub of the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask, which you put on before you go to sleep. You wake up with glowing, soft skin and just wash it off before your cleansing routine. And I’ve also finished my Boscia Luminizing Black Charcoal Mask which I absolutely loved for a good evening cleanse.
Body Lotion & Body Scrub
My skin gets really dry in the winter, so therefore I actually use Moroccan Oil on my legs and arms 1-2 times a week and then I use a body lotion on the other day. I just havn’t found the perfect body and body scrub lotion yet, so I’ll have to keep you updated on that. I might try to make my own body scrub with Orange & Ginger that I found in Tanya’s Christmas - it looks very festive.
1. The Korean Beaty cleansing sponge. It’s meant to give you skin a deep cleanse and a massage, and I’ve really seen great results in how soft and glowy it has made my skin. I just wet my face, apply my cleanser to the sponge and massage my face in circles and the tiny little rubber “needles.”
2. The Jade Roller. To cool down puffy eyes or just so give my skin extra glow I use a Jade Roller 1-3 times a week after I cleanse in the morning. With the jade roller remember to roll away from the center of your face. Marianna Hewitt has made a great video guide on how to use it.
3. The Microneedle Dermal Roller. I use it 2 times a week, which has been great for my acne scars to get a bit smaller and my skin to rejuvenate.
